RADIATOR
TECH TIPS:
The thermostat in an engine block is designed to regulate the flow of coolant into the radiator
from the engine.
The degree
designation
(Ex: 185 Degree) refers to the temperature in which the thermostat will open.
A LOWER TEMPERATURE THERMOSTAT WILL NOT NECESSARILY LOWER ENGINE TEMPERATURE.
In some instances, a lower temperature thermostat can actually raise operating temperature by not regulating coolant flow.
For example, if a
165 degree thermostat is installed into an engine that normally operates at 190 degrees, the thermostat will stay open at all times once engine temperature exceeds 165 degrees. Thus, there is nothing to regulate the flow of coolant into
the radiator.
Without anything to regulate the coolant flow, the coolant will pass through the radiator before the heat can be removed from it creating an upward spiral in engine temperature.

ELECTRIC FAN TECH TIPS:
Whether using a single fan or a dual fan setup, a combined airflow rating of at least 2500 CFM must be achieved to
cool an engine.
When using
Hot Rod Air's line of reversible electric fans, the fan blades and the polarity of the motor must both be changed to convert fans from puller
to pushers
or vice versa.
